Sony Sees RED!

And the Hits Just Keep on Comin'......Tired of still waiting for your Scarlet? Well here kids is another offering from Sony for the Indie Film Maker......and this one is surely is aimed directly at those of us who wamt to shoot footage that can pass for the big Hollywood production, but don't have 100K laying around. One of our favorite sites, Engaget says "In the wild, wild world of film production it's sometimes tough to separate the consumers from the prosumers from the independent filmmakers from the big studios -- especially when more affordable technology makes it easier and easier for one class to imitate the other. Sony's latest 35mm CMOS imager video camera is an attempt to cover lost ground in the "indie" realm of requisite low-budget and desired high production value, a market dominated by the RED One, and to some extent Canon's 5D Mark II and 7D, for the past couple years."

The playing field just keeps getting more "crowded" everyday. Will there be room left for Red, when they finally leave the dressing room?

It Might Get Loud / A must see movie for anyone who loves the Guitar

It Might Get Loud is a must see movie for anyone who loves the Guitar. It is the story of 3 Rock Guitar Legends. Although I must admit, I had a little trouble with putting Detroit's own Jack White in the mix with the man who "Defined the Real Rock Guitar Sound". For I remember purchasing Led Zeppelin II and going home to sit down in front of my parent's "Console HiFi Player". (I know......a lot of the younger readers do not even know what a "HiFi Console" is....but for some you you who are my age, you know exactly what I am talking about!!!) Anyway, dropping the arm of the record player on "Whole Lotta Love" for the first time and hearing that amazing sound from Jimmy Page's Les Paul is something that changed my life. But after watching this incredible documentary, I have a new found respect for Jack White. What is really amazing about this film is the stories the 3 guitarist tell about how they came to love the guitar and music, just as I did that day I bought Led Zep II. If you love music.......DO NOT MISS THIS FILM!!!

American Star: "A Real Rock and Roll Story"

One boy’s journey to the top and back. This is the story of one boy’s rise to Rock Stardom and his realization that all the money and fame in the world does not guarantee true happiness.
In 1973 a boy had a dream of becoming a “Rockstar”. American Star is the story of this boy’s journey from a High School Talent Show to the top of the entertainment industry. There was never a better time to be a Rockstar than the 1970’s. It was a time when the term “Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll” was still politically correct. All the infamous tales of rock in the 70’s become a reality for this loner kid from the Midwest, but the real story is about how he finds that fame and fortune doesn’t provide automatic true happiness and his journey to then discover what does.

I saw this first on the Zacuto Critics Series and was blown away.  This is a real testament to what can now be done with the new amazing digital camera equipment and a shoestring budget.  But no matter what equipment is used, it still always comes down to talent and the film maker who wrote directed and shot this film, Nuno Rocha is the definition of "TALENT"!
